Topic: Autoantibody Testing for Screening and Diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes

Synopsis: Laboratory testing for type 1 diabetes autoantibodies is useful in screening for the disease, especially in first degree family members.  However, since type 1 diabetes is frequently overlooked in adults, this same testing is useful for diagnosis in this population.

Since December 2022, Dr. Sanjay Dixit has served as Medical Director of the Cardiometabolic, Endocrine, and Wellness Clinical Solutions division at Quest Diagnostics.  Within the company, he serves as the medical expert in adult endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, as well as in obesity medicine.  He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism) and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
